The Division operates and maintains about 135 miles of canals which provide irrigation for the benefit of about 5000 acres and is staffed by 18 employees. The Cochiti Division is the northern-most Division in the Conservancy District. It primarily serves the irrigated acreage of Cochiti Pueblo, Santo Domingo Pueblo, San Felipe Pueblo, and a portion of Santa Ana Pueblo. It also serves non-pueblo irrigators in the villages of Sile, Peña Blanca, and Algodones.  The Cochiti Division was originally served by a low diversion dam built by the MRGCD around 1930.  In the mid 1970’s, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed a large earthen filled dam and a new reservoir at the site, which incorporated intakes for MRGCD diversions into the outlet works.
