Position No. 4 – Bernalillo County – Colin T Baugh – 73 Votes               Position No. 7 – Sandoval County – Michael T. Sandoval – 42 Votes

Congratulations to the new board of direcctors

We are pleased to announce the result of the 2025 election to the MRGCD board of directors .  The following members have been elected to serve four year terms.

Position No. 3 – Bernalillo County
– Karen Dunning

Position No. 4 – Bernalillo County
– Colin T. Baugh

Position No. 6 – Socorro County
– J. Chris Lopez

Position No. 7 – Sandoval County
– Michael T. Sandoval

We would also like to thank Glen Duggins who is leaving the Board for all of his service to the farmers and people of the middle Rio Grande valley.

Are You a Qualified Voter

If you recently purchased property that is benefited within the Bold Red Line on the above maps, you may be a “qualified elector” and able to vote in the upcoming October 7, 2025, election for the MRGCD Board of Directors.

§73-14-20. G.
‘“… qualified elector”means an individual who owns real property within the benefited area of the conservancy district and who has provided proof of an ownership interest… ’

§73-14-21. A.
‘… The individual may become certified to vote in a future election by filing his deed of title… at least 90 days before the next conservancy district election… .’  The cutoff date for this election is Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

To ensure that you are listed on the Qualified Elector List, you should have sent a copy of your filed deed to the MRGCD by Wednesday, July 9, 2025, otherwise you will not be able to vote in this election.

Absentee Voting

Absentee Voting occured Thursday, August 28, 2025 through Saturday, October 4, 2025

The deadline is now closed to pick up applications.

About the MRGCD

The Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District (MRGCD) was established in 1925. MRGCD operates, maintains and manages irrigation, drainage and river flood control in the middle valley.  Serving approximately 11,000 irrigators, six pueblos and 100,000 parcels of land throughout the Middle Rio Grande, MRGCD is essential to maintaining the facilities required to upkeep the agricultural production in this area. The MRGCD owns and manages 30,000 acres of bosque, and has helped to establish Tingley Beach, the Rio Grande Nature Center, Los Lunas Bosque Open Space, Corrales Bosque Preserve, Escondido Lake State Park, among several more and all of which are open for recreational use by the public. The MRGCD also works in cooperation with other local, state, and federal agencies to protect the environment, wildlife, and endangered species.
